Upside Down Mini Apple Pies

Get ready to flip the script on apple pies! These mini upside-down ones are a fun and foolproof twist on a classic. Get the whole family involved and enjoy these sweet ‘n sticky pies with all the warm fall spices you know and love, in a flaky, buttery puff pastry hug.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium apple 
  • 5 tbsp liquid honey
  • 1 tsp Apple Pie Spice
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, defrosted
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400° F. Line Sheet Pan with Sheet Pan Liner.
  2. Thinly slice apple. In a small bowl, combine honey and spice. Cut puff pastry into 6 equal rectangles.
  3. Spoon just under 1 tbsp honey mixture onto pan, equally spaced out, 6 times. Spread to create a thin layer.
  4. Arrange fruit slices overtop honey in a single layer. Place puff pastry pieces on top of the fruit, gently pressing down to seal the edges.
  5. Brush with melted butter and bake 15 min.
  6. Allow to cool slightly, then flip onto a serving plate. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

Tips

For a sweet & savoury combo, add slices of brie cheese on top of the apple slices before adding the puff pastry.

If you can’t find frozen sheets of puff pastry at the grocery store, look for the type you must roll out yourself. Let it thaw in the fridge overnight before rolling it out.
