"Healthier You" French Toast

A delicious weekend breakfast – top with fresh fruit for an even healthier meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup low-fat milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 14 tsp Cinnamon
  • 8 slices whole-grain bread
  • 14 cup maple syrup, optional

Preparation

  1. Whisk egg and milk in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add vanilla extract, orange zest and Cinnamon.
  3. Heat a medium frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Dip bread in egg mixture and cook two slices at a time in pan for 3–5 minutes on each side, or until golden-brown.
  5. Top with maple syrup if desired, and serve.
