Halloween Cockroach Cake

Ingredients
  • 1 cup chopped dates

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 12 cups boiling water

  • 34 cup shortening

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 cups flour

  • 12 tsp Sea Salt

  • 12 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tbsp pure cocoa

  • 12 cup milk Belgian chocolate

  • 12 cup sugar

  • 12 cup chopped dates

  • 12 cup milk Belgian chocolate

Instructions
  • Preheat oven to 325° F (170° C).

  • Cover dates with baking soda and water. Let stand until cool.

  • Cream together shortening, eggs and sugar. Combine both mixtures and beat well.

  • Add flour, baking soda, vanilla extract, pure cocoa and chocolate chips. Pour into a parchment lined 9” x 13” pan.

  • Mix topping ingredients and spread over cake batter. Bake at 325° F (170° C) for 40 minutes.
