Chopped Italian Sandwich

This sandwich is as fun to make as it is to eat! Yes, it’s the one you’ve seen all over TikTok and it totally lives up to the hype. We’ve made it Epicure-style by adding our delish dip mix. Make it how you want it—mix ‘n match your favourite meats and veggies, chop it all up, and nestle it into your preferred bun.

Ingredients
  • 12 head iceberg lettuce

  • 1 large tomato

  • 12 small red onion

  • 5 slices ham

  • 5 slices salami

  • 2 slices provolone cheese

  • 14 cup banana peppers, optional

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 2 tbsp Spinach Dip Mix or 3 Onion Dip Mix

  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

  • 5 sub buns

Instructions
  • On a large cutting board, chop lettuce. Slice tomato and onion. Place sliced tomato and onion overtop lettuce. Top with ham, salami, cheese, and banana peppers, if using. Chop into small, bite-sized pieces, combining everything as you go.

  • In a small bowl, combine mayo, dip mix, and vinegar. Spoon on top of sandwich filling on cutting board. Chop all ingredients one more time to combine.

  • Split and toast buns. Divide filling between buns.

Tips

This recipe is high in sodium. For a sodium-conscious version, swap deli meats with leftover cooled, shredded Rotisserie Chicken.

This sandwich is best served right away but, to make the filling ahead of time, simply omit the lettuce. When you’re ready to assemble the sandwiches, add the lettuce. This way, you’ll avoid a soggy sandwich.
