Who said tofu can’t be fun? With all this sweet and savoury goodness, you’ll see just how yummy and versatile it can be—we’re willing to “steak” our reputation on it! While there’s certainly a time and place for red meat, mixing plant-based proteins into your diet can be great for your heart by lowering the amount of saturated fat and cholesterol you’re eating.

Ingredients

  • 2 pkgs (350 g each) extra-firm tofu
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp each low-sodium soy sauce and rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Maple Miso Marinade Mix
  • 8 cups leafy greens
  • Toppings (optional): Poke Bowl Topper Blend or Everything Bagel Whole Food Topper

Preparation

  1. Pat tofu dry with a paper towel or clean cloth. Slice in half horizontally to create four thin steaks.
  2. Heat oil in Sauté Pan over medium-high heat. Add tofu; cook 4 min per side, until golden.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk maple syrup, soy sauce, vinegar, and marinade mix until well combined. Reduce heat to medium and pour seasoning mixture over tofu. Simmer 4 min, using a spoon to frequently baste tofu, until glaze is thick and tofu is well coated.
  4. Divide leafy greens between four plates. Top each plate with a tofu steak and drizzle on any remaining glaze. Sprinkle on topper blend, if desired.
